The thermostatically controlled cooling units are based on a Danfoss compressor, which cools a condenser in the cooler or freezer. Danfoss compressors are very efficient. Hermetically sealed, they operate in a mixture of oil and coolant, which contributes to very quiet operation and very little wear. Like all efficient electrical appliances, the compressors used by Indel Webasto Marine operate with a 3-phase system. The 3-phase voltage is generated in a small microprocessor. For tropical conditions, we recommend reducing the volume of the cooler by 10-20%.
Indel Webasto Marine has managed to integrate various functions into this "computer" that controls and monitors the unit. This allows for low power consumption. The same processor is used in the 12 V and 24 V systems and is protected against unwanted polarity reversal. A fan forces air through the condenser. This is the traditional way of cooling. It must be ensured that cold air can enter from below and warm air can flow out upwards. - Used in Bavaria boats.
