Installed easily and quickly on the line, which does not need any free end but only minimal slack. Fits lines up to 20 mm (as well as tape).
Made from a weather-resistant rubber-like material, with extremely good stretch properties, which regains its shape without sagging.
The size of the boat determines how many Bungy are needed on each line. A large boat needs more Bungys than a smaller boat.
Bungy also works as a brilliant shock absorber on the mainsheet:
No problems with violent jerks and bangs when gybing
No problems with jerks under luff in rough seas
Advantages when sailing upwind in gusty winds
Removed in a few seconds before racing
Bungy is well documented:
"Unbelievably the snatching and creaking stopped immediately when the Bungys were in place" Motorboats Monthly August/2010
"No visible wear has occurred after 5 years of extensive use in the tropical climate of the Caribbean" Practical Boat Ownership March/2007
"These weatherproof - simple to fit - shock absorbers take the sting out of any tight mooring lines" Yachting Monthly May/2005
"A favourite Gear of the Year product! Bungy is so intelligent that it is irresistible" Practical Sailor December/2004
"Putting it plainly, we greatly admire the mind that came up with this idea" Practical Sailor July/2004
"Bungy is the best, easiest, most versatile and most affordable shock absorber I have tried" På Kryss 5-6/2002
"After a season of testing I can confirm that Bungy works just as well as the advertising promises" Båtnytt 6/2002
"Well-designed. The system joins the top group of tested models" Yacht 14/2000
"Bungy gave excellent results and achieved the best performance overall" Sailing Today February/2000
"We have tested Bungy on our editorial boat, and see clear advantages with this innovation" Praktisk Båtliv 10/1998
Recommendation for a 9 m boat:
- Permanent mooring: 4 - 5 Bungy
- Temporary mooring: 2 - 3 Bungy
- Mainsheet: 2 Bungy
Is small and handy (approx. 7x4x4 cm).
Suitable for most types of mainsheet and moorings - permanent as well as temporary and also anchor and buoy lines - and is absolutely superb for dinghy and car towing. 2 pcs/pack.
