Suitable battery capacity (Ah):
8A -  40-80 Ah battery. Typical applications: Common passenger car, SUV, smaller boat and cabin batteries
10 A - 50-100 Ah battery. Typical applications: Common passenger car, SUV, small boat and cabin batteries
15 A - 75-150 Ah battery. Typical applications: Van, caravan, solar system, large boat and cabin batteries

Small batteries charged with too powerful Ampere chargers can be damaged. Instead, use a MC charger (0.8-1A) or a 4A charger. For large leisure batteries (100 Ah+), 8A can still be used, but charging is slower than with a 10A or 15A charger.

Look at the battery capacity (Ah).
Choose a charger with about 10% of the battery capacity in charging current.
Maximum safety for most lead-acid batteries is about 20% of Ah.
A charger that is too small will give a very long charging time, while a charger that is too large can damage the battery.

Tip
A smart charger automatically regulates the current down as the battery approaches full, so you can safely charge without constantly monitoring it.
Remember to choose the right charging program (AGM, GEL, LiFePO4, etc.) if the charger supports this.
A good solution for both daily car use and leisure batteries up to medium sizes.
